COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will focus mainly on reading and reading strategies, accompanying with weekly listening tactics. Regarding to reading and reading strategies, the aim is to help students to approach written material with different objectives, to read for meaning, and to process information and ideas as students read. Students are also required to read a fiction book every semester in order to strengthen their reading habit. One or two writing practices will be provided, to help students generate and develop ideas for writing well-organized paragraphs on topics related to class contents. For listening tactics, in order to give students experience with listening to a variety of text types, course material would be taken from online resources, TV, video clips, and all kinds of audio clips from various textbooks.
